Commercial Driver License Class A Session I

with Buddy Spaulding

80 hours classroom instruction, mostly during the first two weeks. Some lab work and driving during the first two weeks. Beginning the third week, students will be doing nearly all lab work and driving. Students will only need to be on site part time once the 80 hours class time is over (4 hours/day). Students will be scheduled to take the permit test after the class work is completed. Students will receive a minimum of 44 hours behind-the-wheel, consisting of at least 12 hours on the road. The remaining behind-the-wheel time will be spent on the off-road driving range, working on maneuvers needed to pass the license test. Lab time consists of inspecting vehicles, hooking and unhooking trailers, and possibly other hand-on learning activities. Cost per student for materials varies: A DOT physical is needed prior to class ($100). Permit application ($35), and each additional endorsement is $10 (tank, hazmat, double/triple trailer).
